According to the Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg announced yesterday that the sequel will hit theaters during the second half of 2013.

Meanwhile, DreamWorks is also planning a TV series, an online virtual world and, yes, a live arena show based on 'Dragon,' though no word yet on when those projects will go into development. 'Dragon' has shown unexpected legs at the box-office after its slightly underwhelming opening weekend, when it grossed $44 million. Last weekend, the film surprised everyone by re-claiming the top spot on the domestic charts.

The film also won rave reviews from critics, and currently holds a 98 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
