Hatchet 2 follows Marybeth as she escapes from the clutches of Victor Crowley, learns the truth about his curse, and heads back into the haunted New Orleans swamp to seek revenge for her family and kill Victor Crowley once and for all.
According to Green, filming wrapped in February after a rather grueling 2 month shoot, one fraught with illness and vomiting and all manner of nastiness. Hopefully that suffering will show up on the screen. Say what you will about the original Hatchet, the love and toil behind it is honest. Green has a rabid devotion to the franchise and in his blog offers up a personal look into the trials of film making. It's a glimpse behind the curtain not often revealed by PR blurbs.
Green goes on to drop a lot of interesting hints at Victor Crowley's background. It's clear that he's serious about telling more of the story, rather than establishing a framework for more gruesome kills. Oh, but there will be gruesome kills. In comparison, he claims the first film looks like a PG13 studio movie. He's putting the finishing touches on it now with hopes for it to hit the screen in September. If you're anxious for some early footage, the first of it will be shown at the Weekend of Horrors in Los Angeles on May 22nd
