When I was younger I was a huge fan of the Puppet Master franchise. I rented the first three in the series at an age when I probably shouldn't have been watching evil puppets kill people, and even went as far as purchasing the large Blade doll to add to my ever-expanding collection of figurines. I don't know why I kept it as long as I did, as I was fairly certain it wanted to kill me. I no longer collect horror-themed figurines and the like, but if I did, I'd probably do my best to suppress the sleepless nights Blade caused me and buy NECA Toys' new Exorcist collectible, the detail of which is enough to inspire countless more nights wondering whether or not I'll die at the hands of a toy.

While the detail of poor possessed Reagan's face is creepy in its own right, NECA Toys felt it especially appropriate to give it special head-spinning action while playing quotes and music from the movie. Imagine waking up to get a drink of water in the middle of the night only to see and hear the head spin, followed by the voice of Pazuzu taunting you. Sure, you laugh, because it's just a toy, but my God, hearing that in a dark room would scare the crap out of me. Of course, I'm probably projecting my own childhood fears of killer puppets, but don't laugh at me when the tiny Reagan spider-walks down your stairs.

According to an interview with NECA's Randy Falk with Figures.com (who also provided the photo), the figure experienced a temporary delay due to economic difficulties and "a lack of specialty retail support" but will be available for around $39.99 this fall, with a release date likely in September or October. Pre-orders can currently be made at ToyWiz.com.

Special thanks to Dread Central for giving us the heads up on this interesting little gem of nightmarish horror. Check out a bigger version of the promo poster after the jump.
