'The Back-Up Plan' features Jennifer Lopez in yet another romantic comedy. However, the movie is more about the responsibility of becoming a parent. The charm of the film arises from the scenes involving the lead couple preparing for the new arrivals. The movie's soundtrack works better when it is whimsical and pop oriented than when it tries to be edgy.

The soundtrack offers a great number of songs you have heard before as well as some by artists whose names may not be on the cusp of popular music. It is obvious Jennifer Lopez, an actress who originally made her name as a musician and dancer, would be featured on the CD but it might come as a surprise she is only present on one track.

It is obvious Jennifer Lopez, an actress who originally made her name as a musician and dancer, would be featured on the CD but it might come as a surprise she is only present on one track. 'What is Love?' opens the CD with an up tempo R&B track. The problem with the song is it does not properly portray her film character's attitude and doesn't fit the mold of the movie for some reason.

The second track, "Say Hey (I Love You)" by Michael Franti & Spearhead saves the soundtrack. The song is a 2009 release that reached #18 on the U.S. charts at one point. It is a happy, upbeat song that parlays the feelings of the movie perfectly. When you are looking for songs to fit the mood of a movie, you can't get a better fit than "Say Hey".

Other notable inclusions are the Colbie Caillat hit "Fallin' For You," India.Arie's "A Beautiful Day," Jessica Jarrell's "Key to My Heart," and Kos' "Crabbuckit." The true highlight of the album comes with the final two songs, "She Drives Me Crazy" and "What a Wonderful World." What makes these songs special is the fact they are directly from a wonderfully hilarious scene in the movie, performed by 86-year old actress Barbara Perry. It is a great conclusion to a fun soundtrack.
