French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, whose participation was confirmed yesterday, was rumored to play the lead role, but according to the Daily Telegraph, she'll now only do a cameo. The former model appeared as herself in the 1994 film about the fashion world, 'Pret-a-Porter.'

'Paris' is the third film in a financing deal between Allen's Gravier Productions and Mediapro, the Spanish company that also funded Allen's 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' and Allen's next release, 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger.' 'Stranger,' which stars Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins and Freida Pinto, premieres next month at Cannes and will be released in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Classics.
