Oh cripes, can't a man earn a dollar anymore without being accused of selling out? Well, not if you're Benicio Del Toro it would seem. The entire internet is aflame with indignation and, like, disgust because Del Toro has teamed up with director Bryan Singer to make a miniature movie in the form of an advert for Magnum ice cream. Oh no! The HORROR!

Also featuring an Angelina Jolie lookalike, the ad is a perfectly acceptable affair, with Ben and Ange as a husband and wife bank robber duo (or something) who break into somewhere to get their hands on some gold... but wait! It's not gold, it's ice cream! Ha ha, brilliant! Now go back to the start so I can watch it all over again.

Watch the advert after the jump to see what all the fuss is about... Oh no! The HORROR!

Also featuring Caroline De Souza Correa (from The Fast and the Furious), the ad is a perfectly acceptable affair, with Ben and Ange as a husband and wife bank robber duo (or something) who break into somewhere to get their hands on some gold... but wait! It's not gold, it's ice cream! Ha ha, brilliant! Now go back to the start so I can watch it all over again.

Really, once you've seen it the first time, squinted and said 'is that Benicio Del Toro'?, that's where the interest ends. Sadly not for the outraged denizens of YouTube though.. oh no, they can't get their heads around the fact that actors endorse things for money. Some of the comments are hilarious: 'you're just whores in a capitalist gangbang' says thomaswelvaert... 'they all need to go to hell. benicio you whore....' splutters antiochus66, who also found the time to leave another comment (my personal favourite): 'hey director bryan singer you ain't know paul greengrass and congrats on making this badly made turd...' Biting stuff.

So, here you go then: watch the short and long versions, work yourself up into a frenzy and leave an ill-thought out, reactionary comment on YouTube. Go on... I dare you.

(PS. Someone's already wheeled out the 'Bill Hicks says this about advertising' line, so you'll have to be a bit more original than that, I'm afraid).
