The 'xXx' franchise was originally set up at Sony, but will move to Paramount for this third installment, which the studio plans to release in either late 2011 or early 2012. Rob Cohen's last film with Sony, 2005's 'Stealth,' was a commercial flop.

'xXx' was released in 2002 and took in $277 million at the worldwide box office. Vin Diesel didn't return for the 2005 sequel, 'xXx: State of the Union,' starring Ice Cube, which grossed only $71 million worldwide.
