American PieIt's the nature of craving: One day you feel like gorging on White Castle burgers, the next you would do anything for a fresh slice of apple pie. And now, cravings are no longer just for pregnant people and potheads. They're also for Hollywood hotshots.

That's because, according to the Hollywood Reporter, 'Harold & Kumar' creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have decided to skip a third trip to the burger joint and instead tackle the upcoming franchise relaunch 'American Pie 4.'

The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise considering Hurwitz and Schlossberg have already completed writing the script for the third 'Harold & Kumar' film, with stars John Cho and Kal Penn signed and ready to begin filming later this year (a production that reportedly will now continue with a new director). The latest 'American Pie' installment, on the other hand, has yet to ink deals with any of the original cast, though producers remain hopeful that they will be able to entice the entire ensemble to reprise the roles that made them breakout stars when 'American Pie' debuted in 1999.

Until now, that hope seemed a bit pie in the sky, but the addition of Hurwitz and Schlosserg to the production is a step in the right direction, given their track record making raunchy comedies. In addition to hits 'Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle' and its sequel, 'Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay,' the duo also teamed up for 'Scary Movie 3' and the upcoming Lionsgate feature 'One Night Stan.'

Whether or not their involvement will be enough to bring stars like Alyson Hannigan and Seann William Scott back to the table for a fourth helping of 'Pie' remains to be seen. But one thing's for sure: The chances of a Neil Patrick Harris cameo just increased exponentially.

And that's one craving we all share.
