DiCaprio, known for working with heavyweight helmers such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, told EW.com that he's met with Eastwood about the Oscar-winning director's J. Edgar Hoover biopic, currently in development.

"It sounds interesting to say the least," the Oscar-nominated actor told EW.com's Hollywood Insider. "There's no contract, no anything, but I'm a huge fan of Clint's."

The as-yet-unnamed Hoover biopic is said to focus on the g-man's storied career and influence on the department that ultimately became known as the FBI, which Hoover led from 1924 until his death in 1972. Eastwood ('Invictus') is working on the project over at Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment from a script by Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black ('Milk').

Hoover's lengthy, and at times controversial, tenure as FBI director has often been portrayed on screen, and actors such as Bob Hoskins, Kevin Dunn and Treat Williams have all taken whacks at playing the federal enforcer. More recently, Billy Crudup memorably captured Hoover's earlier bureau days sniffing down gangsters in Michael Mann's 'Public Enemies' last year.
