Sam Worthington, Mads Mikkelsen, Jason Flemyng, Alexa Davalos, Louis Letterier and Nicholas Hoult arrives at the World premiere of 'Clash Of The Titans' at the Empire Leicester Square

It's not every day London's Leicester Square is transformed into ancient Greece, complete with stone columns, statues and burning torches. But then it's not the world premiere of 3D action epic Clash of the Titans every day.

Even the rain couldn't put a dampener on our excitement as we waited for the stars of Titan to make their way up the red carpet. Avatar's Sam Worthington, who plays Perseus - born of a God raised as a man, and who battles God of the underworld Hades in the film to stop him causing hell on earth - gleefully stepped up to our questions.

Speaking about the moral of the film, the Aussie star said: "I've got a nine-year-old nephew who enjoyed all the God stories and I thought that's not a good message to send a kid - that you can only succeed if you're a God.

So the message is if you look deep inside yourself, the strength of a man can get anything done and is much more powerful than any God."

But enough of Sam's sentimental meaningful messages, and seeing as we can't give you our verdict on the film just yet, we decided to explore the burning issue of who the stars favourite Greek God's are. And ask which powers they'd love to possess.

Sam Worthington said: "My favourite God? Ian Thorpe the Australian swimmer." Obviously missing the mythical Greek Gods theme surrounding him.

The next star in our grasp was the dashing Luke Treadway who plays Prokopion, Hades foot soldier. He revealed : "My favourite Greek God is Aphrodite – God of love. And I'd want Hermes powers, those flying shoes." We think he means Hermes winged sandals. Oh, and Luke admitted he'd only watched eight minutes of the original 1981 film on YouTube.

Gemma Arterton, who plays spiritual guide lo, dashed past wearing Gucci and Tiffany but wouldn't stop for a chat. We put it down to the rain and the fact she had just told PA: "There's make-up on my legs," in order to hide her "Clash rash" – bruises obtained from filming battle scenes for the film, not some nasty STI.

Next up was Ali Bastian, ex-Hollyoaks and Bill actress as well as Strictly Come Dancing star, she couldn't name any Greek Gods but did say she'd "like to be able to fly". Original Ali.

But back to Hollywood film stars and the beautiful Alexa Davalos, who plays Andromeda, a princess and Perseus's love. She explained she had "no complaints" about all the men in skirts in the film. Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen who plays Draco said his favourite God was "Hades because he's a very angry man".

Meanwhile, Tamer Hussan (Kick Ass, Dead Man Running) who plays Ares God of War, reckoned we wouldn't recognise him in the film as he's "got long hair." Admitting he's got a bit of a love God in him, he added, "there's a lot of love in this man". He named his favourite God as Zeus though and said he "wants to be able to see into the future, so [he] can ruin all the bookies for nicking every ones money".
Warriors
Finally, the man behind the vision, Director Louis Letterier (The Incredible Hulk, Transporter 2), let us in on his inspiration, he said: "I grew up around Greek mythology and loved the original film, I want to pay respect to it."

He continued: "I believe in monsters, when I see a big wave I think it's a dragon." And his favourite God – "Zeus of course!"

And with that, the cast made their way through the Greek temple ruins into the Empire cinema, leaving us with nothing but handsome warriors for company.
