- Need a sure sign that Timur Bekmambetov has become quite the busy man since making the move from Russia to Hollywood? I no longer need to look up how to spell his last name. He's been producing a lot lately, but it looks like he's finally settled on a new directorial project: an adaptation of Peter Ackroyd's novel The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein. By my memory, this marks at least the third, relatively high-profile Frankenstein project to get the green light; the other two being Guillermo del Toro's tentative Frankenstein re-imagining and the very cool sounding monster-as-P.I. flick I, Frankenstein.

- I'm sure Tony Stark gets laid a lot in the world of Iron Man, but in the real world I'm not so sure Diesel's new Iron Man-themed limited edition cologne is going to do the trick.

- Over at indieWIRE Anne Thompson runs down a list of what is likely to be at this year's Cannes. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and You Will Meet a Tall, Dark Stranger are being talked about, but the most interesting of the big three is Terrence Malick's supposedly complete cut of Tree of Life.

- Magnolia Pictures has picked up Stateside distribution rights for The Extra Man, a Sundance 2010 debut directed by Shari Springer Berman based off Jonathan Ames' novel. No precise theatrical release date is set, but late July is the target.

- Vaudeville actress June Havoc has passed away at the age of 97.


- I wish I was lying when I said that I finally sold my copy of the PS3 gem LittleBigPlanet today. I seriously might consider buying it back just for the April 8th release of a DLC pack tailored for Pixar's The Incredibles (via /Film). Damn you, Media Molecule! Every time I get out, you find a way to drag me back in!
