Re-release the Kraken! With parents racing to Wikipedia for a Greek mythology refresher and teenage boys geeking out over something that isn't 'Call of Duty,' the new remake of 'Clash of the Titans' has made us nostalgic for the 1981 original film -- warts and all. Sure, it feels like a B-movie version of a DeMille or Wyler film, but the historically inaccurate, yet visually stunning, story of Perseus and his adventures with Medusa, giant scorpions and enormous sea creatures remains a classic in our eyes.

At the time, Ray Harryhausen's visual effects were state-of-the-art, and scared and entertained viewers in equal measure. They may look cheesy now, but don't forget: 'Avatar' is going to look like an Ed Wood film in 2040.
