We brought you the news back in February that Anthony Hopkins would be starring in New Line's exorcism flick, The Rite. The story is based on Matt Baglio's true story tale, The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist about an American priest's sabbatical in Rome to learn how to administer exorcism. Variety is now reporting that Hopkins may have a partner to help him deal with the demonic forces of hell.

Hopkins plays an expert exorcist who uses unconventional methods to admonish Pazuzu and the gang back to hell. By his side is a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and finds his faith through the dark encounters he faces. The Tudors' Colin O'Donoghue is reported to be in final talks with New Line for the role.

I'm a sucker for exorcism horror, but there are dozens of films that explore the subject. Does this casting make it seem anymore worth your while or will this just be another head spinning, pea soup schlockfest?
