Remember how Chris Evans was offered the role of Captain America but hadn't accepted it because he was already committed to another project? It looks like Evans did indeed have a nice long chat with his agent because after a weekend of negotiations, it's settled.

Chris Evans will wear red, white and blue tights and smack Nazis in the face with a shield.

This will be the third piece where I say something like "Chris Evans will be great in the role! Blah, blah, blah-dity blah," so I'll leave it at that and take a moment to speculate about the future of the Marvel movie universe. If everything goes according to plan, we'll have the awkwardly titled The First Avenger: Captain America hitting summer next year and the conceptually ambitious The Avengers hitting the summer after that. The latter will see Chris Evans' Captain America teaming up Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Hemsworth's Thor. Time will tell with Hemsworth, but the thought of Evans and Downey bouncing off each other is pretty exciting. You will believe that a superhero team can banter!

And if they somehow manage to convince Edward Norton to come back as Bruce Banner...I can't even write that without drooling on the keyboard.

Iron Man 2 hits theaters this summer, Kenneth Branagh is currently filming Thor and Joe Johnston will begin production on Captain America this summer.
