AvatarSoon, you'll be able to travel to Pandora without leaving home.

ComingSoon.net brings news that James Cameron's 'Avatar' will hit DVD and Blu-ray shelves on Thursday, April 22 to coincide with Earth Day. Surprisingly, there will be no special features on the disc (sorry, Avatards: you'll have to wait until that special two-disc collector's edition for Cameron's director commentary).

Cameron had mentioned earlier this year that 'Avatar' would be released on DVD and Blu-ray sometime in April, but Fox didn't confirm this until now. Cameron had also mentioned that there would possibly be a 3D Blu-ray release of the film in November, but the studio has denied this, saying the technology would require 3D television sets -- not exactly the most common piece of furniture in your average American household. 'Avatar' is currently the highest-grossing movie of all time, having taken in over $2.6 billion at the worldwide box office. The film is still doing impressive business in its theatrical run, even after being removed from IMAX screens and several 3D theaters to make way for Disney's 'Alice in Wonderland.' Fox has also announced plans to possible re-release the film sometime this summer with additional footage.
