The film will be directed by Neil Burger ('The Illusionist') with a screenplay by Leslie Dixon ('The Thomas Crown Affair'), who will also be co-producing with Scott Kroopf and Ryan Kavanaugh.

'Dark Fields' centers on a down-and-out writer (Cooper) who comes into possession of a designer drug that gives him new-found intelligence and success, with De Niro playing a financial mogul who pursues him. The film will begin shooting this May in Philadelphia.

De Niro has several films being released this year, including 'Little Fockers,' the indie drama 'Stone' and Robert Rodriguez's 'Machete.' Bradley Cooper will next be seen as Lt. Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in 'The A-Team,' opening June 11th.
