Joseph Gordon-LevittJames McAvoy has been cured, and now, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be treated for a cancer comedy.

The Hollywood Reporter brings news that McAvoy ('Wanted'; 'Atonement') has left the untitled project due to "unrelated circumstances beyond his control" and Gordon-Levitt will be stepping in. The film, which previously had the working title of 'I'm With Cancer,' is a humorous autobiographical tale written by Will Reiser about a young man dealing with the disease. Jonathan Levine ('The Wackness') is set to direct the comedy, which begins filming in Vancouver on Monday. The cast includes Seth Rogen, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anna Kendrick and Angelica Huston.

Joseph-Gordon Levitt recently appeared in the indie hit '(500) Days of Summer' and indulged a villainous turn as Cobra Commander in 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.' He'll next be seen in the Sundance favorite 'Hesher' and in Christopher Nolan's sci-fi thriller 'Inception,' which opens July 16th.

McAvoy, meanwhile, can currently be seen in the Oscar-nominated flick 'The Last Station,' and has a number of films upcoming, including Robert Redford's 'The Conspirator' and the animated 'Gnomeo and Juliet.'
