It's a good thing we read the MPAA rating description for 'Alice in Wonderland.' Apparently the film earned its PG status for "fantasy action/violence involving scary images and situations, and for a smoking caterpillar." Man, if they didn't include the warning for that smoking caterpillar, the shock of seeing it may have done us some serious harm.

Gunaxin has turned us on to just how detailed the MPAA ratings can get with the fun list The Twenty Best MPAA Ratings. They tell us what specific age bracket gets punched in what part of the face (adolescents, nose). And they are skilled enough to quantify the amount of ninja action in one film. The whole list a pretty hilarious read -- hey, we finally know what qualifies as "sexy dancing" to MPAA board members.

Our favorite comparison: Peter Jackson's 'Dead Alive' was rated R for "an abundance of outrageous gore" while the animated 'Ice Age' was rated PG for "mild peril." Somebody would probably lose their job if they accidentally got those two mixed up.
