As the seductive and deadly assassin Fox in 2008's hit action flick 'Wanted,' Angelina Jolie ruthlessly executed a number of targets, sight unseen. Now she's killed her latest victim: the sequel.

According to New York Magazine, Jolie has withdrawn from 'Wanted 2,' which had been on the fast track at Universal after the first film took in $341 million worldwide. While the decision wouldn't seem to affect the production too much, given that Jolie's character was stone dead at the end of 'Wanted' (spoilers!), the studio apparently disagreed and, rather than move forward without a bankable star, has decided to cancel the project altogether. While the decision wouldn't seem to affect the production too much, given that Jolie's character was stone dead at the end of 'Wanted' (spoilers!), the studio apparently disagreed and, rather than move forward without a bankable star, has decided to cancel the project altogether.

Jolie's withdrawal may have been affected by Universal's earlier decision to also snuff out Jolie's upcoming collaboration with 'Children of Men' auteur Alfonso Cuarón. Titled 'Gravity,' the film, which Cuarón co-wrote with his son Jonás, features Jolie as the sole survivor of a space expedition trying to get back to Earth. When Universal pulled the plug, Warner Bros. snatched up the project and, it now seems, Jolie along with it.

'Wanted,' which cost $75 million to make, was based on the cult comic book of the same name from artist J. G. Jones and writer Mark Millar, who will be returning to cinemas this spring thanks to Universal's adaptation of his latest superhero deconstruction, 'Kick-Ass.'

But while the studio's relationship with Millar is healthy, the same can't be said of its relationship with Jolie. And, like Universal, we have a pretty good idea which of the two is more wanted by fans.
