Following news that the 'Spider-Man,' 'Planet of the Apes' and 'X-Men' series are all expecting 'Star Trek' style reimaginings, New York Magazine is now reporting that the eponymous Brangelina vehicle, 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith,' is facing a facelift too.

The reboot, being touted as a "quasi-prequel" by Regency Enterprises, will be shedding the sizzling (and home-wrecking) on-screen chemistry of Brad and Angie and focusing on a new pair of twentysomething spies who are set up as a fake married couple once they graduate from agency training. And, in the interests of "originality," this couple will be known as 'Mr. and Mrs. Jones.'

Aside from the economic benefits of ditching Mr. and Mrs. Jolie-Pitt and their multi-million dollar salaries, tabloid buzz isn't expecting Hollywood's biggest power couple to last long enough to get the reboot rolling, which means there's an opening for a pair of slinky super-spies to indulge in some undercover lovin', hopefully without disrupting any more marriages. Because of this, we decided to throw together our top picks for the new couple to step into Brangelina's thigh holsters and create some suburban carnage.

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams
Okay, we know that Ryan and Rachel have been on-again-off-again more times than Ross and Rachel (no Jennifer Aniston jokes here ... ), but we've witnessed their on-screen chemistry in 'The Notebook,' and frankly, they still get us hot under the collar. Although they're currently on the outs, we bet all those past make-ups and break-ups would amount to some wicked sexual tension, and since Mr. and Mrs. Smith spent half of the original trying to kill each other, maybe another movie together would provide a little physical therapy?

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner
Sure, they're probably a little too old to pass as twentysomethings anymore, but since 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' was a wrecking-ball for one marriage, maybe it would be safer to cast a couple who are already involved this time around? Ben Affleck has left the spy games to his BFF Matt Damon in recent years, but there's no reason why he couldn't return to his action roots, especially given his Missus' spy credentials from five seasons of sleuthing as Sydney Bristow. Plus, Bennifer (even their names splice just as nicely!) got a similar on-screen start to their relationship after sparks flew between them on 'Daredevil' -- we'd love to see them kicking some ass together again.

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson
Speaking of Hollywood's hottest couples; here's a pair who have never shared the screen (unless you count RyRey's SNL hosting gig) -- color us curious to see whether this much pretty in one couple can sizzle or fizzle on set. We're all set to watch just how well ScarJo can work a catsuit in her upcoming role as Black Widow in 'Iron Man 2,' and we bet her beau knows his way around a weapon too, after action-packed roles in 'Smokin' Aces' and 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.'

Chris Evans and Zooey Deschanel
Pretty random pairing, we know, but hear us out. Chris Evans had our temperatures soaring in his breakout role as The Human Torch in 'Fantastic Four,' but despite star turns in 'Sunshine' and 'Push,' this burning hunk of man has been bubbling under the radar for a while. We suspect audiences will be paying attention to him after this summer's comic-book adaptation 'The Losers,' where his spy potential will be put to the test as a member of a CIA black ops team. As for Ms. Deschanel -- okay, partly we just think she'd look great in skintight leather, but after proving her comedic and dramatic chops in movies as diverse as '(500) Days of Summer,' 'Yes Man' and 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' (opposite Mr. Smith himself), an action role could be just what the doctor ordered to push her into full-on superstardom. We think that watching these two verbally spar would equal cinematic dynamite.

Michael Pitt and Megan Fox
Alright, now we're just being shallow. Michael Pitt has the name, the looks and the smoldering on-screen intensity of a young Brad Pitt, and as far as female sex symbols go, Megan Fox may be second only to Ms. Jolie in terms of lust-worthiness. The jury's still out on whether she can actually act, but we're sure she can work all of the same slinky outfits that made 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' such a box-office hit with the guys in 2005.
