A video of Mel Gibson allegedly calling host Dean Richards on Chicago-based station WGN an "a**hole" (you can watch the video below) following a satellite chat has become an internet sensation since it was aired last Friday.

But the Hollywood actor's spokesperson, Alan Nierob, is adamant the remark was aimed at him, rather than the Dean Richards because he had been "pulling faces" at Gibson during the interview.

The 54-year-old actor was being questioned about his new film The Edge of Darkness when Richards asked Gibson if he thought the public would perceive him any differently while making reference to his drink driving arrest and alleged anti-Semitic insults from 2006.

Gibson replied: "Thats almost four years ago dude, I've moved on. I guess you haven't. I've done all the necessary mea culpas, um, let's move on dude, come on."

When Richards brought the interview to a close, Gibson, who was still on camera, can be seen angrily slurping a cup of coffee, before saying: "Bye, bye a**hole."

Hmmm, so what do you think? Was Mel Gibson swearing at the TV host - or his publicist? Watch the video below and let us know below.
