Sundance 2010 has started, and that means that it won't be long until we see reviews detailing how Floria Sigismondi handled Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in The Runaways. You know -- that new rock biopic about the band Joan Jett formed in the '70s, before she became a lean, mean, solo rocking machine. Just in time for the first day of Sundance, a new clip has hit the web, which you can see after the jump.

In the clip, Cherie (Fanning) is chilling at a club when Michael Shannon's Kim Fowley approaches with Stewart's Jett. Fowley is a record producer sporting a saucy triangular eye adornment (and looking slightly less creepy than most of Shannon's roles). He digs Cherie's look -- "a little Bowie, little Bardot." She says she can sing, and the rest, as they say, is history. As the story goes, Jett and Sandy West started the band, got Fowley interested in them, and he helped them find the rest of the members, including Currie.

It doesn't really show whether Stewart is able to hide her lip-biting self inside of Jett, but Fanning looks good so far. I'm digging her "I will kick your ass" slow, eye-rolling looks (something she also pulled out for New Moon). What do you think? Are you ready to rock with The Runaways? Or do you remain unconvinced?
