This sequel news is a little bit of a headscratcher: According to the Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is currently developing a sequel to its 2005 revenge thriller, 'Four Brothers.' It seems that star Mark Wahlberg is responsible for getting the ball rolling on the project, which is aptly titled 'Five Brothers', as reports indicate that he helped conceive the sequel's plot with original writers David Elliot and Paul Lovett; Lorenzo Di Bonaventura will return to produce.

The plot of 'Four Brothers' centered around four adopted brothers (Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Garrett Hedlund and Outkast's Andre Benjamin) who band together to avenge their mother's death after a seemingly random grocery store robbery turns out to be part of a larger plot. At last count, the original was down to three brothers (Hedlund's character bit the dust) so it remains to be seen where the sequel would scoop two extra siblings to make up the title's 'Five' (long-lost twins, perhaps?). Besides Wahlberg, none of the original cast is yet confirmed to reappear.

Considering the 2005 movie's modest box office haul ($74 million), and mixed critical reaction, it's anyone's guess why Wahlberg and co. have decided to revisit the Mercer brothers. For now, details are being kept under wraps.

In the meantime, Wahlberg can currently be seen in Peter Jackson's 'The Lovely Bones' and will also appear in Steve Carell and Tina Fey's 'Date Night.'
