Granted we haven't seen enough of this film to completely write it off just yet, but there's just something about hearing Owen Wilson's distinct voice and then trying to apply it to a real-life Great Dane that's completely throwing me off. Maybe it would work better as an animated film, and maybe we'll get used to it a half hour into the film, but at first glace I'm simply not feeling this one at all.
Based on the classic comic strip about a Great Dane that causes all sorts of mischief, Marmaduke hits theaters on June 4th and Yahoo has debuted the brand new teaser that's really only a shot of the pooch hanging out of a car while Owen Wilson talks about how hard it is to be a teenage dog (apparently this is a parody of The OC, though that show has been off the air for awhile now so ... not the most relevant of jokes). And as much as I really want to write this one off, it does boast a pretty impressive supporting cast that includes Emma Stone, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Ron Perlman, Judy Greer, Steve Coogan, William H. Macy, George Lopez, Stacy Ferguson, Damon Wayans Jr., Amanda Seyfried and Jeremy Piven. Guess we'll have to wait for a longer trailer, though I know it's going to take me awhile to get used to the voice thing. And what's up with the line about being hosed? Who still says hosed?
Watch the teaser after the jump. What say you?
