After Dark's latest HorrorFest is right around the corner and, as usual, the company is set to bring you "8 Films to Die For". So far, they've only revealed six of their eight entries for this year--but last night we got our first glimpse at lucky (or in this case, maybe it's unlucky...) number seven: Nick Cohen's The Reeds. Not familiar with the title? Then please allow me to drop some science.

"In The Reeds, a weekend boating trip through the Norfolk Broads becomes a deadly ordeal for six 20-something year old friends who lose their bearings in the vast reedy tidewaters. Chances of escape and hopes for survival diminish as inexplicable forces terrorize the lost and terrified group."

Hard to get much of a read (pun fully intended) on how good this might be from that vague synopsis, but this year's HorrorFest lineup seems to be shaping up quite nicely. The Reeds joins Brian Pulido's The Graves, an adaptation of Clive Barker's Dread, the intriguing high school torture flick The Final, Lake Mungo, Hidden, and ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction on this year's slate. The films will play theatrically in 25 markets for one week starting on January 29th.

No word yet on what the final film may be--although if I had to guess, I think it makes perfect sense that it would be Adam Gierasch's Night of the Demons remake. That's just my guess, though.
