Quentin Tarantino Picks His Favorite Films of 2009With so many "best-of" critics lists coming out this time of the year, it's refreshing to hear what one of our favorite filmmakers has to say about his favorite movies of 2009. In a conversation with the Hollywood Reporter, Quentin Tarantino listed his top eight films for the year:

1. 'Star Trek'
2. 'Drag Me To Hell'
3. 'Funny People'
4. 'Up in the Air'
5. 'Chocolate'
6. 'Observe and Report'
7. 'Precious'
8. Why only eight? The director of 'Inglourious Basterds' prefaced his list-making by saying that there were still a few films he had to see before he could complete his picks. Among them were 'Avatar,' 'The Lovely Bones' and 'Invictus.' Tarantino also said he wanted to revisit a few titles, including 'Bright Star' and 'District 9.'

Are there any surprises here? Well, there's a couple very popular films he left off his list: 'The Hangover,' 'The Road,' 'Orphan,' 'The Hurt Locker,' 'A Serious Man,' 'Paranormal Activity,' 'Up' and, yes, his own 'Basterds' come to mind. But we sure do savor the inclusion of 'Chocolate,' a little-seen Thai martial-arts film about an autistic woman who goes after a ruthless gang, reaffirming that Tarantino is still on the cutting edge in terms of his taste.

We'd like to see more filmmaker top 10 lists. What about you? Whose list would you like to see?
