Kevin Smith, no stranger to controversy, once again has been tilting at windmills: His latest outing, a buddy cop comedy starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, has been using the working title 'A Couple of Dicks,' much to the chagrin of distributor Warner Bros.

So it was only a matter of time before the studio put pressure on Smith to retitle the film so they could more easily market it around the country. According to a report at SlashFilm, the film -- which is scheduled for a February release -- has been given a new title (hopefully not "A Couple of Cops," a title that has been bandied about) that will be announced when the film is trailed before screenings of 'Sherlock Holmes' on Christmas day. Here's the announcement from Smith:

The Movie Formerly Known as A COUPLE OF DICKS has finally settled on a (network-policy-dictated) replacement title! While we'll always have DICKS in our hearts, the title we just now locked makes me smile on a bunch of different levels -- including this 1: we can now advertise our movie properly (& ironically). And said marketing begins ... on every print of SHERLOCK HOLMES, Christmas Day!

Why does Smith have to wait until the film is trailered before announcing the title? According to SlashFilm, Smith responded to fans on Twitter: "that kinda thing's above my pay-grade, sir ... (it's) Not MY movie; a movie I was hired to direct."

The film -- the first that Smith has not written -- follows a pair of cops who have to track down a stolen baseball card, along the way tangling with mobsters, laundered drug money and a mysterious Mexican beauty.

We think 'A Couple of Dicks' is a pretty immature title, but if the studios can market 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,' 'Knocked Up' or 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,' what's wrong with 'Dicks'?

We tried to come up with a new (funny and ironic) title for the film but all we could come up with was 'Cop Out.'

What's your suggestion?
