To many fans of the original film --- directed by the legendary Robert Zemeckis and starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas -- a remake of any kind would be a mistake. But the choice of Luketic is particularly worrisome. Though Luketic helmed 'Legally Blonde,' a bonafide hit, his more recent projects ('The Ugly Truth' and 'Monster-in-Law') were critically savaged and achieved only modest domestic box office success. Additionally, little in his work-to-date would seem to indicate a knack for the action-adventure genre. Which begs the question: why Luketic?

One possible explanation for the choice might be Luketic's forthcoming film, 'Killers,' which is still in post-production. 'Killers' -- which stars Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher -- is the story of a vacationing couple who discovers that their neighbors might be assassins contracted to kill them. Described as as an action/comedy/thriller, 'Killers' could potentially be more demonstrative of the action-adventure chops that Luketic will need to make a worthy 'Romancing' remake.

Since it won't be released until this June, we'll have to wait and see whether 'Killers' is any indication of the tone the new 'Romancing' might take. Until then, there's plenty of time to sweat out who will be cast in the remake.
