What was even more exciting (and of major note to Potterheads) was that ABC also broadcast footage from 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I,' the penultimate film in the series. 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I' will open in theaters in November 2010, with 'Part II' following in the summer of 2011.

The footage is both wonky and wonderful. The opening shots, spotlighting producer David Heyman and director David Yates, however, contain too much backslapping: Of course Heyman and Yates are thrilled, privileged and honored to work on the Harry Potter films. Who wouldn't be? That said, a quick shot of Daniel Radcliffe having his makeup touched up scores a 10 on the Cute Quotient; later on there is a cut showing an exuberant Radcliffe and Emma Watson, lovely as ever as Hermione, giving each other a high-five.

At :55 there is a pause, at which point the video becomes a more traditional type of trailer. Harry asks, his voice shrunken to a husk, "What do you know about the Deathly Hallows?" And there's a hint about what -- if you haven't read the book -- the Deathly Hallows are: "To possess them all," we hear, "is to make oneself immortal."

Visually, there is consistency quite evident -- Yates, after all, also directed 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' and 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.' The illuminated gloom, the blue-gray skies, plus nifty glimmers of magic in action may all be enough for right now, but if Warner Bros. knows its marketing, more video teasers should be out very soon.

UPDATE: Sadly, the video has been pulled off the Web, so you'll need to rent or buy the 'Half-Blood Prince' DVD to see it.
