John Malkovich's production company, Mr. Mudd, and Mandate Pictures -- who turned 'Juno' into a $230 million worldwide hit -- will produce Kaling and Forrester's tale of a woman whose self-worth has reduced her dating life to a string a losers. Against all odds, however, her luck changes, and she finds herself pursued by the most awesomely hot dude ever. Kaling will play a supporting role.
Since Kaling's 'Office' character Kelly is infamous for her goofy bluntness, revealing waaaay too much personal information and engaging in some prodigiously inappropriate behavior, we can only hope that she brings some that recklessness to 'Lizzie.'
Besides her on-screen 'Office' work, Kaling has also directed the show's 'Subtle Sexuality' webisodes, and has signed on with NBC to develop and star in her own comedy. Forrester, meanwhile, who has 'The Simpsons' and 'King of the Hill' on his resume, is working on his own pilot for Fox.
Obviously, there's no self-esteem problem with these two off screen. We trust they'll be able to remember enough disastrous dating moments to turn Lizzie' into some classic cringe-worthy comedy.
