Universal Soldier: Regeneration is heading towards DVD and Blu-ray on January 5, 2010 according to QuietEarth, and is available for pre-order. The latest film has had three other titles; Universal Soldier 3, "Universal Soldiers: The Next Generation, and Universal Soldier: A New Beginning, the title it played under at Fantastic Fest in September.

It doesn't look like the people who've owned the rights to the property know how to count. The latest film with Jean Claude van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, and Andrei Arlovski beating each other up within the confines of Chernobyl is actually the fifth film in the franchise. When poking around among the credits, it looks like it may be a rights related oversight, or perhaps the fact that the two 1998 films are made for TV, although the original writers, who get credit for character creation in the 1999 and 2009 films aren't given credit in the television films. Still, the fact that the 1999 film acknowledges them makes it a bit confusing.
