A bit of casting news for a new Cartoon Network toon in the works: Nate Corddry (younger brother of Rob, both of The Daily Show fame) will be voicing one of the leads in the upcoming Horrorbots. For those unfamiliar with Corddry's appearances as an occasional Daily Show correspondent, he was a regular on Diablo Cody's United States of Tara (on Showtime), and will be heard in next year's big-screen adaptation of Yogi Bear.
Horrorbots comes from the minds of creator Michael Buckley (The Sisters Grimm) and producer Christy Karacas (Superjail!) and is due to hit the network sometime in 2010. The show will follow two robots, Thrasher (Corddry) and Blatus, teenage outcasts set in the world of Killglobe, a land of robots who are generally much more powerful and threatening than the protagonists.
Given Karacas's Superjail! pedigree -- the show is one of Adult Swim's most fabulously twisted to date -- it's a little surprising (and heartening) to see this one set up with Cartoon Network proper, and not Adult Swim. The synopsis definitely sounds geared toward a younger, broader audience, although even the more kid-friendly stuff on Cartoon Network can be fairly twisted. See The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack for further proof.
Seems like a potential winner though. After all, where will kids learn their values if not from robot coming-of-age stories?
