Oh, to have famous Hollywood parents.

The Hollywood Reporter recently announced that 19-year old Henry Hopper, son to veteran actor and even more veteran lunatic Dennis Hopper, is joining the cast of Gus Van Sant's new as-yet-untitled film about two teenagers preoccupied with death. (Spoiler: not a comedy.)

Hopper joins Schuyler Fisk, daughter of Sissy Spacek, in his first leading role, playing a boy dealing with the death of his parents. His only other acting credit is 1996's 'Kiss & Tell,' the low-budget police drama starring Heather Graham and Justine Bateman. He was 6 years old. Oh, to have famous Hollywood parents.

Not to be outdone, Bryce Dallas Howard has already announced plans to join father Ron Howard ('Apollo 13,' 'A Beautiful Mind') to produce the film with Brian Grazer.

The movie begins filming today in Portland, Oregon, the setting for two classic Van Sant films: 1989's 'Drugstore Cowboy' and 1991's 'My Own Private Idaho.'

"It captures the profoundly defining turning point of a young person's life with stark realism, irreverent humor and intense emotion," Bryce Dallas Howard recently told THR. "I think that Gus was drawn to this story because he has an uncanny ability to convey the complexities of youth and outsiders, and this is, above all else, the journey of an outsider."

With shooting having just started, it's not too late for more "Oh c'mon dad, put me in your movie" talks around various Hollywood kitchen tables. Your move, Colin Hanks and Sage Stallone.
