Name: Gordon Shumway. Later nicknamed "Alf", an acronym for "Alien Life Form".
Appears in: The NBC sitcom Alf, which ran from 1986-1990 and spawned one TV-movie in 1996. Two cartoons, Alf: The Animated Series and AlfTales (1987-1988). One short-lived TV Land talk show (2004).
Homeworld: Melmac. Rumored to have been destroyed when every Melmacian turned on their hairdryers at the exact same time, the actual cause of the planet's destruction was nuclear war (sobering!). Melmac was much like Earth, but, like many superior alien races, they had perfected the flying automobile. Many Melmacians participated in a monotheistic religion, worshiping a god named Barry.
Demeanor: Sarcastic. Puppet-like.
Special Abilities: Able to amuse himself so often that "HA! I kill me!" became his most commonly used English phrase. Able to solve a human family's problems in under thirty minutes.
Turn-Ons: Cats as food. Hidden cameras. Pretending to be taped in front of a live studio audience. Declaring problems as "no problem".
Turn-Offs: Being photographed from the waist down. The Ochmoneks.
Career Highlights: Hosted Hollywood Squares. Did a PSA for the Department of the Interior. Held his own against Bill O'Reilly on The O'Reilly Factor. Inspired Eminem.
Career Lowlights: Whored himself out for 10-10-220 and Burger King. Had his dirty laundry aired in the film Permanent Midnight.
