Will AMC's new take on The Prisoner be any good? I'm not sure what to think. I like the cast, and the sleek trailer makes it look like a decent thriller, but will it deliver on multiple levels the way Patrick McGoohan's 1960s classic did? We'll find out when it premieres this Sunday. And don't forget to tune in to IFC on Friday night to catch a few episodes of the original.
This week also brings a new take on the Wonder Twins (Smallville), more lizard skinned bad guys (V), a time travel tale (Stargate Universe) and more. Read on for this week's TV picks and previews.
Heroes, "Shadowboxing" – Sylar continues to play head games with Parkman, leading to a roadside murder. Claire and HRG battle Claire's evil sorority sister, and it looks like Peter is becoming addicted to his superpowers, a story idea that doesn't sound at all tiresome. Last week was fun, but this week looks like a messy one for Heroes. (Monday, 8 p.m. on NBC.)
Head after the jump for more picks and preview videos.
V, "There is No Normal Anymore" – The story continues with Visitor Anna getting her passport and a Seeker tailing Eric and Father Jack, possibly the only two people on Earth actually who don't trust the alien visitors and their promises of peace and awesomeness! Judging by the preview clip below, it looks like V is set on delivering big action and suspense this season, two things a few other genre shows (I'm looking at you Heroes and SGU) could use a lot more of. (Tuesday, 8 p.m. on ABC.)
FlashForward, "Playing Cards with Coyote" – I've fallen behind on FlashForward (hey, It was a surprisingly easy thing to do). Still, I'm willing to catch up in time for this week's tense-looking ep that sees Mark on the hunt for the tattooed assassin. (Thursday, 8 p.m. on ABC.)
Fringe, "Of Human Action" – All trails point to Massive Dynamic after a hostage situation turns tragic, thanks to man who appears to have mind control powers. It looks like another one-off for Fringe, which will hopefully deliver better ratings for J.J. Abram's slumping sci-fi procedural than last week's ep. (Thursday, 9 p.m. on Fox.)
Supernatural, "The Real Ghostbusters" – OK, now this one sounds strange. The boys are tricked into attending a Supernatural convention packed with fans that talk and dress like them and the baddies they've gone up against in the past. No, on second thought, this one sounds like a lot of fun. (Thursday, 9 p.m. on The CW.)
Smallville, "Idol" – It looks like the Wonder Twins are still giving superheroes everywhere a bad name! Zan (David Gallagher) and Jayna (Warehouse 13's Allison Scagliotti) show up to join Clark's mission to clean up Metropolis, but they end up getting the future Supes in a trouble with the DA. Sounds like a hoot, which is just what we need after the intensity of Kandor. (Friday, 9 p.m. on The CW.)
Stargate Universe, "Time" – The crew lands on a jungle planet and finds they've been there before – and they ended up dead! That's right folks, time travel enters the Gateworld this week. Here's hoping Eli offers some choice Back to the Future or Terminator references. (Friday, 9 p.m. on Syfy.)
Sanctuary, "Fragments" – Looks like pretty standard whodunit this week for the Sanctuary team. An abnormal snaps, leading to the murder of a friend. (Friday, 10 p.m. on Syfy.)
The Prisoner, "Arrival/Harmony" – AMC's reboot of Patrick McGoohan's bizarre 1960s sci-fi mystery kicks off with Jim Caviezel and a fedora-wearing Ian McKellen taking on the lead roles. Check out the extended trailer below. (Sunday, 8 p.m. on AMC.)
