The decision to join the cast of 'Mad Max: 'Fury Road' -- the latest entry in the vaunted film franchise -- was easy for Oscar winner Charlize Theron.

"George Miller is THAT for me," Theron told Moviefone at Wednesday's premiere of her new drama, 'The Road,' at AFI Fest in Hollywood. "He is amazing. I am really looking forward working with him."

Theron, joined Wednesday on the red carpet by her partner Stuart Townsend, follows up an acclaimed turn in September's 'Burning Plain' with this month's apocalyptic drama 'The Road,' co-starring Viggo Mortensen and based on a book by 'No Country for Old Men' scribe Cormac McCarthy.

"I was asked by my friend Nick Wechsler, who produced the film,"
Theron said." I loved the book. I felt very honored that they asked me. Working with Viggo was amazing."

She describes the film as "a scenario [in which] whatever we consider to be the end of the world happens."

Mortensen, also an Oscar nominee, reportedly went into Method acting for 'The Road' -- but as for an explanation to Mortensen's process, Theron pleads ignorance.

"I don't know how he does it ... and I don't really want to know," says the actress. "I just know I watch them, I believe every moment. He's fully committed. As an actor, to be part of that, it's magical. Not to sound hokey about it, but I'm never trying to deconstruct it. I think that you have to leave a little breathing room for something to happen that you can't understand."
