With 'Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs' out on Blu-ray disc and DVD this week, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment decided to do something big. And cold.

They hired a crack team of 14 sculptors from Ice Bulb LLC to spend four days carving what could be named the world's tallest ice sculpture ... in an exact likeness of Scrat, the movie's adorably bug-eyed, acorn-obsessed half-rat, half-squirrel. They hired a crack team of 14 sculptors from Ice Bulb LLC to spend four days carving what could be named the world's tallest ice sculpture ... in an exact likeness of Scrat, the movie's adorably bug-eyed, acorn-obsessed half-rat, half-squirrel.

A team of artists from Blue Sky Studios devised the sculpture's design, which is said to measure 45 feet in height when complete.

The team's frosty results were unveiled on Oct. 27, at 4PM PST, at ICE at Santa Monica -- an 8,000-square-foot outdoor skating rink in downtown Santa Monica.

A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was on hand to confirm that the gargantuan Scrat sculpture beat the current record -- a 40-foot-high frozen replica of Dubai's Burj Al Alam, the world's tallest commercial tower -- set in 2006.

Parents and children attending the free event not only got to marvel at a Scrat weighing 133,000 frozen pounds, but also figure-skater Randy Gardner, who dazzled the crowd with signature moves on the rink, set to the 'Walk the Dinosaur' song from 'Ice Age 3.' Even Scrat himself, we hear, had his paws in some skating shoes.
