Scene from The ExpendablesSly Stallone wasn't messing when he said The Expendables would be the ultimate homage to the classic actions movies of the 80s and 90s. The trailer has just gone live and - you know what - it's a tsunami of explosive, gun-toting, knife-throwing, quip-laden, slo-mo action all squeezed into three eye-popping minutes.

Shoot on over for the trailer... Scene from The ExpendablesSly Stallone wasn't messing when he said The Expendables would be the ultimate homage to the classic actions movies of the 80s and 90s. The trailer has just gone live and - you know what - it's a tsunami of explosive, knife-throwing, quip-laden, slo-mo action all squeezed into three eye-popping minutes.

Boasting just about every big, bruising movie star of the last few decades (Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Statham, Li, Lundgren, Rourke to name but a few) this is the Real Madrid of its genre. And the trailer literally ticks every box: Massive gun fights (check), cheesy lines (check), an airplane attack (check), a beautiful heroine (check), Sly with a six-shooter (check). Oh, and slo-mo leaps from a fiery explosion (check - see pic above for proof).

As for the story, well, it concerns a team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator. Stallone's the boss (of course), Jason Statham is the knives expert, Dolph Lundgren is the Swedish Expendable-turned-bad guy, Jet Li is a martial arts master (what else) and Eric Roberts is just the bad guy. As for the others, its difficult to tell. We'd take a wild guess that their good at killing and stuff.

Anyway, enough chatter, enjoy the trailer. The Expendables explodes (probably) into cinemas on 20 August 2010.
