Either way, Death Cab's video for 'Meet Me on the Equinox,' the first single off the 'New Moon' soundtrack, is here ... and it's pretty good stuff. The band hits all the right -- if familiar -- notes, as footage from the film is interspersed among shots of the band doing their thing. Watch the music video after the jump. It's a match made in emo heaven, as emo stalwarts Death Cab for Cutie have debuted their extremely emo new music video for the very emotional teenage vampire flick 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon.' Yep, that's a whole lot of emoting (for the uninitiated, emo is a kind of melodic -- some might say depressing -- indie rock music characterized by confessional, heartfelt lyrics). And, ironically, the new clip is more than enough to make the movie/band's core emo demographic smile, though we have to wonder: Does the emo code of conduct permit smiling, or is perpetual melancholia required?

The video, which plays like an extended trailer of sorts for the film, should especially please those who rally to the cry of "Team Edward!" The 'New Moon' footage, some of which is brand new, focuses almost exclusively on the romance -- or rather the end of the romance -- between good-guy vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) and his human sweetheart Bella (Kristen Stewart). In fact, Bella's perennially shirtless werewolf suitor Jacob (Taylor Lautner) is almost completely M.I.A. from the clip, aside from a tiny cameo made by his right forearm. Meanwhile, Edward basks in the spotlight, as the video closes with a climactic shot of Pattinson removing his shirt ... in slow motion, of course.
'New Moon' doesn't hit theaters until Nov. 20, but you won't have to wait that long for the soundtrack. The indie-rock-heavy record, which also includes a new song by Radiohead frontmant Thom Yorke, a duet courtesy of Bon Iver and St. Vincent, and new tracks by the Killers, Grizzly Bear and Muse, hits shelves Oct. 20.
