One of the most pleasant surprises of the year, the deliciously demented black comedy 'World's Greatest Dad' marks the latest directorial effort of actor-turned-filmmaker (auteur?) Bobcat Goldthwait. Yes, that same Bobcat Goldthwait who scared children throughout several installments of 'Police Academy.'

Robin Williams -- in likable, understated 'One Hour Photo' mode, not obnoxious, over-the-top 'Patch Adams' mode -- plays a kindhearted teacher, aspiring author and single father with arguably the world's worst son (think 'Problem Child' now dropping f-bombs and addicted to Internet porn, played by former 'Spy Kid' Daryl Sabara). Something tragic happens -- it's better not to know, so don't read up too much on the movie -- and somehow, the film only gets funnier from thereon in. Goldwaith's first film, 'Sleeping Dogs Lie,' otherwise known as the "oral sex with a dog movie," got plenty of buzz for its subject matter, but was only half of a good movie, turning disappointingly somber halfway through. 'World's Greatest Dad' gets better as it goes along. It's twisted in all the right ways, brims with clever satire and features Williams' best turn in years (and if that's not enough, there's also a cameo by Bruce Hornsby!). Do be warned, though: This film contains a Robin Williams penis sighting.
