Hugh Jackman is set to play legendary circus 'Showman' P.T. Barnum, Sam Worthington takes over for Tom Cruise in 'The Tourist,' Carla Gugino drinks up 'Sucker Punch,' and more of today's top movie headlines. In case his stint as this year's Oscar host didn't drive the fact home, Hugh Jackman is 'The Greatest Showman on Earth.' The Aussie actor will play legendary circus emcee P.T. Barnum in an original contemporary musical being scripted by 'Sex & the City' writer Jenny Bicks. British singer-songwriter Mika in talks to write the music and lyrics, and Anne Hathaway is being eyed to play Barnum's love interest, singer Jenny Lind. Sounds like a regular three-ring circus. 'Terminator Salvation' breakout and future 'Avatar' and 'Clash of the Titans' star Sam Worthington has landed yet another big role. The Aussie actor will star opposite Charlize Theron in 'The Tourist,' a remake of the 2005 French thriller 'Anthony Zimmer,' about a female Interpol agent (Theron) who uses an American tourist in France (Worthington) to catch a wanted criminal ... who's also her former lover. Tom Cruise had been on tap for the role, but dropped out to do the action-comedy formerly entitled 'Wichita.' [The Hollywood Reporter]

Carla Gugino is thirsty for some 'Sucker Punch.' The actress is reteaming with her 'Watchmen' director Zack Snyder for the 1950s-set tale of a group of girls who enter into an alternate reality to plot their escape from a mental institution before they're lobotomized (heady stuff!). The female-centric cast also includes Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Abbie Cornish and Jamie Chung. [The Hollywood Reporter]

It looks like Tom Arnold's recent comments that 'True Lies 2' would go before cameras in 14 months were a bit light on the 'True' and heavy on the 'Lies.' According to director James Cameron, there are "no plans" for a sequel to the 1994 Arnold Schwarzenegger action-comedy because the flick is "a product of a more innocent time." However, Cameron does go on to say that if 'True Lies 2' does get made, Arnold will most definitely be involved. Cue emphatic sigh of relief. [AICN]

Steve Zahn is set to star in 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid,' a live-action adaptation of Jeff Kinney's illustrated novels about the trials and tribulations of a wiseacre middle-school kid over the course of one school year. Zachary Gordon will play Greg, the titular lad, with Zahn and Rachael Harris portraying his parents. [Variety]

'Go,' 'Big Fish' and 'Charlie's Angels' scribe John August will write and possibly direct a big-screen adaptation of John Hely's novel 'How I Became a Famous Novelist.' The satirical book follows a man who sets out to write an unflinchingly commercial novel that he hopes will win him fame and fortune and, most importantly, upstage his ex-girlfriend's wedding. Seems like some pretty sound rationale to us. [Variety]
