"I stumble across these projects [and] think, "Why doesn't a project like this ever get made?"

Brian Austin Green may be best known for his TV work -- first on 'Beverly Hills 90210' and now 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' -- but guess what? The former David Silver has big-screen aspirations, and you might be even more shocked to learn his genre of choice: horror.

Moviefone chatted with Green about the vampire movie he's directing, the big comic book producing project he can't yet disclose ... and his vision for the perfect ghost story. (To get Green's take on 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles,' his fiancee Megan Fox, his hatred of the paparazzi and more, read the AOL TV interview.)

1. Do you have any plans to move to the other side of the camera? You've directed a couple things.

Yeah, there's a film that we're finishing the script on now that I'm hoping to direct this year, and I'm producing a few things also. I've actually really gotten into producing; it's kind of fun. I've always been one of those people that I stumble across these projects [and] think, "Why doesn't a project like this ever get made?" And now having the ability to put things together and do that has become really fun.

2. Is there anything you can tell us?

I've got something big that we're finishing up the deal on now with Fox that I can't get into detail on until it's done ... it's a really cool comic book property ... A feature through Fox and Fox Atomic, so soon enough that'll all be done, and I'll be able to talk about it.

3. What are you directing?

It's a vampire film called 'The Vines'; that's just a working title right now. It takes place in wine country, up in Northern California, and it's a kind of fun dark take on vampires. Much more along the lines of '28 Days Later' than... ['Twilight'] ... so no romantic tree climbing ... Not that there's anything wrong with that. That's a very specific choice. [But] one of my things with vampires that kind of bothers me is that people don't dress like vampires anymore for Halloween, because they're not really scary anymore, they're much more romanticized than feared, and so I really enjoy films that just genuinely scare the shit out of me.

4. Anything else you're working on that you can talk about?

This haunted house thing I want to do ... no score, no CG or visual effects, very calm and sort of simple, but I want people to go home and every noise they hear in their house I want them to question. I want this film to be just genuinely scary; it's those simple things -- if you're walking through your house in the middle of the night and you hear something squeak upstairs or something fall in the next room, it terrifies you. And it could have just been something rolling off the countertop or a piece of furniture, but it's that fear of the dark and the unknown. It's the reason that 'The Blair Witch Project' did so well, because it was simple -- a little too simple -- but still there's tension that's held throughout the film. I like that moment that someone pulls a gun on somebody and has it out, before they pull the gun doesn't really have my attention, but when they fire the gun it's all over, so it's those moments that they're holding the gun and you don't know what's gonna happen that keep you sucked in.

5. Now that you're like an action hero guy, do you see yourself doing action movies?

Um, do I see myself? Absolutely. Am i? Not yet. [Laughs] I, um, I'm waiting. Waiting to see what happens there, I really enjoy doing action, it's fun.
