BFFs deal with scarred past on the streets of San Diego.

In the indie drama 'Gardens of the Night,' Gillian Jacobs (currently seen in 'Choke') and Evan Ross ('ATL') play Southern Cali street dwellers who as young children were abducted by a pedophile.

Tom Arnold, perfectly cast as the creepy old man who kidnaps them, is winning raves for his performance; Kevin Zegers ('Transamerica') and a subdued John Malkovich also appear.

'Gardens,' which debuted at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival and just recently won the International Critics Award in Deuville, looks like the sort of quiet indie that could ride good festival buzz to a respectable showing in theaters. Check out the exclusive trailer here.

The film opens November 7.
