Why? Because my favorite type of movie is serious horror. Doesn't have to be gory or laden with 45 corpses. I just love it when "horror" is treated like an actual and legitimate movie genre -- and both of these movies look to be right up that particular alley. (Needless to say I was elated when Aliens and Silence of the Lambs won their Oscars.) Anyway, you vamp freaks can click your arrow right here and a pair of brand-new still from 30DoN over at Bloody-Disgusting.com -- a website that might be looking forward to this movie as much as I am. Might.)
Second feature film from David Slade (after the groin-chilling Hard Candy), 30 Days of Night is inspired by the 2002 Steve Niles / Ben Templesmith graphic novel (of the same name) -- and it looks pretty damn cool so far. I know, I know, I've been burned by trailers and pre-release buzz a thousand times before, but I'm feeling pretty confident about this one! October 19th is when the vampires hit Alaska, and I know where I'll be on opening night. (Probably right here writing a review. I do hope it's positive.)
The cast includes Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, Ben Foster and Danny Huston. The "adapters" include Niles himself, Candy writer Brian Nelson and Stuart Beattie of Derailed, Collateral and the first Pirates of the Caribbean.
