In a recent discussion with Empire Online, Star Wars mega-producer Rick McCallum made a passive admission that the prequel films did not live up to the expectations of...well, a large number of fans. Many SW fans have been vocally critical of the new trilogy - enjoying it for what it is while lamenting that it was not what it could have been. McCallum was primarily discussing the plans for the announced Star Wars live-action television program, which he claims is still at least another 18 months away. The producer says of the one hour episodic program which will take place between eps three and four "...it's fantastic; we've got some incredible writers. It's going to be much darker, much more character-based, and I think it's going to be everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be." (emphasis added)

Well, Rick, it's good to know that you are aware of the general disappointment surrounding the new trilogy. While I, perhaps, don't dislike it as much as many fans, I do readily admit that it was not the return I have spent the last twenty years of my life dreaming about. Here's hoping you can somehow recapture the magic for your new program.
