Michael Bay's new film The Island is drawing comparisons to a lesser known movie from the 1970s known as Parts: The Clonus Horror. If that name seems vaguely familiar to you, perhaps it's because you once saw it riffed on Mystery Science Theater 3000. The similarities are so striking, in fact, that original creator Robert S. Fiveson may seek a federal injunction to stop The Island from being released. If it makes Fiveson feel any better, I probably wasn't going to see The Island anyway, and I have seen Clonus, even if the version I saw did have a guy and two robots silhouetted at the bottom of the screen, which would be the only way I'd see The Island, for what it's worth.
